Applies to Slumber Studio 1.0.0 for Windows, distributed through the Microsoft Store.
The short version
Slumber Studio does not collect anything, does not send anything anywhere, and does not need a network connection to do any part of its job. There is no account, no sign-in, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising.
What the app does with your data
Everything the app produces is made on your computer, by code running on your computer, from files stored on your computer.
- Scripts you write or edit are stored in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlumberStudio\scripts\ - Rendered sessions are stored in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlumberStudio\sessions\ - Exported audio is saved wherever you choose
- Settings (voice, bed, volume, window size) are stored in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlumberStudio\settings.json - A diagnostic log is stored in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlumberStudio\logs\slumber.log - Temporary render files go to your system temp folder and are deleted when the render finishes and again at next launch
The diagnostic log records events such as "the voice model loaded" and any error messages. It stays on your machine, it is never transmitted, and you can delete it at any time.
What the app does not do
- It does not connect to the internet. There is no networking code in the application.
- It does not download models, voices, ambience, updates or content at runtime. Everything it needs is installed with it.
- It does not require, request or store an account, an email address or a licence key. The Microsoft Store handles the purchase.
- It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising identifiers or fingerprinting of any kind.
- It does not read your documents, pictures, contacts, location, microphone or camera. The only files it opens are ones you explicitly choose.
- It does not share anything with the developer or with any third party, because it does not transmit anything at all.
Verifying this yourself
Disconnect the network adapter, or put Windows into aeroplane mode, and use the app normally. Every feature — writing a script, choosing a voice, building a session, playing it, exporting to MP3 or M4A — works exactly as it does online.
The application manifest requests one capability, runFullTrust, which is what a packaged desktop application needs to run. It does not request the internet, documents, pictures, broad file-system, location, microphone or camera capabilities.
Children
The app includes bedtime scripts intended to be read to children by an adult. It collects no information from anyone, including children, and it has no online component through which any information could be collected.
Third-party components
Slumber Studio includes open-source components (listed in ThirdPartyNotices.txt inside the installed application). None of them are configured to make network requests, and none are given data by this app beyond the text you ask it to narrate, which stays on your machine.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what it does with data, this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the change will be described in the Store listing's "What's new" section.
