Summary (offline by design)

Offline Subtitle Studio AI is built to protect your privacy. All subtitle generation happens on your own device. We do not collect your personal data, we do not upload your audio or video, and there is no account, telemetry, or advertising.

Information we collect

We, the developer/publisher, do not collect, receive, or store any personal information or user content. The app has no account system, no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising. Your media, transcripts, and subtitles are never sent to us or to any server we control.

Data stored locally on your device

The following stays on your computer and is never transmitted to us:

• App settings/preferences (selected model, processing device, language, export options, subtitle styles), stored in standard Windows application settings.
• Application data folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\OfflineSubtitleStudioAI\:
  • logs\ — local diagnostic logs (not uploaded)
  • temp\ — temporary working files created during processing
  • huggingface\hub\ — cached AI model files (see "Network use" below)
• Output files (SRT/VTT/TXT/ASS, embedded or burned-in videos) are saved only where you choose to save them.

You can delete all of this at any time by removing the app data folder or uninstalling.

Network use (optional, one-time model download)

A compact speech model is included with the app and works fully offline. If you choose a larger model (Base, Small, Medium, or Large-v2), the app downloads that model one time from Hugging Face Hub and then uses it offline thereafter.

During this download, only the standard network request needed to fetch the model files is made. No audio, video, transcripts, personal data, or account identifiers are transmitted. The model provider (Hugging Face) may process basic technical request data such as your IP address, as with any web request; this is governed by their own privacy policy. The app does not perform any other background network activity.

Third-party components

The app bundles and runs the following locally on your device (they do not send your content to us or to a server during normal processing): FFmpeg (media handling), faster-whisper / CTranslate2 (on-device speech recognition), and the Qt/PySide6 UI framework. The Hugging Face Hub client is used only for the optional model download described above.

AI-generated content & your responsibility

The app produces AI-generated output (subtitles/transcripts) from the media you provide. Output accuracy is not guaranteed and should be reviewed. You are responsible for the media you process and for how you use the generated subtitles.

No user-to-user features

The app has no social features. There is no chat, no shared feed, and no exchange of content with other users inside the app. You work only with your own files on your own device.

Children's privacy

The app is a general-purpose creator/productivity tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Data retention, deletion, and your choices

Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control. Uninstalling the app and/or deleting %LOCALAPPDATA%\OfflineSubtitleStudioAI\ removes your settings, logs, temporary files, and cached models. We retain nothing on our side.

Security

Processing is performed on-device, which inherently limits exposure of your content. We do not collect or store credentials or personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
