CloakExif is a photo and document metadata inspection and cleaning application for Android. This policy explains how the app handles files and information.
Summary
CloakExif does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. The app has no internet permission. Metadata inspection and cleaning take place locally on the user's device.
Files selected by the user
CloakExif accesses only files that the user explicitly selects through Android's system file picker, photo picker, or Share menu. The app reads those files to display available metadata and, when requested, creates cleaned copies.
The original files are not modified. Cleaned files are temporarily created in CloakExif's private application cache so they can be reviewed or shared. A cleaned copy is written to shared device storage only when the user chooses "Save to device." Android may remove temporary cache files automatically, and all private application data is removed when CloakExif is uninstalled.
Local operation history and preferences
CloakExif may store the following information locally on the device:
- Names and media types of files previously processed
- The number of files and metadata fields cleaned
- Operation timestamps
- Appearance preference
- Onboarding and optional-map confirmation preferences
This information is stored in the app's private local storage. It is not transmitted to the developer or any third party. Users can clear operation history inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes this local information.
Location metadata and maps
CloakExif does not request the device's location. It may display GPS coordinates already embedded in a file selected by the user. The in-app location visualization is generated locally and does not download map data.
If the user chooses to open an exact location in another map application, CloakExif first asks for confirmation. After confirmation, the coordinates are passed to the map application selected by the user. That external application processes the coordinates under its own privacy policy.
Network access, advertising, and analytics
CloakExif does not request Android's internet permission and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or account SDKs. The app does not create user profiles or use cross-app identifiers.
Data sharing and third parties
CloakExif does not send user files or metadata to the developer or to third parties. When a user intentionally shares a cleaned copy or opens coordinates in another application, Android transfers the selected content to the application chosen by the user. The receiving application's privacy practices then apply.
Data retention and deletion
The developer does not receive or retain user data. Temporary cleaned files and local preferences remain only on the device as described above. Users can clear operation history from within CloakExif, clear the app's storage through Android settings, or uninstall the app to remove its private local data.
Files that the user saved to shared device storage must be deleted by the user through their file manager or another storage application.
Children's privacy
CloakExif does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users because it does not collect user data.
Security
Local processing reduces exposure by keeping selected files on the device. Access to files and cleaned copies is controlled through Android's storage and content-sharing mechanisms.
Changes to this policy
If CloakExif's data practices change, this policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated before the change is released where required.
